I propose a new thread. One that allows Forum members to show off the guitars that once belonged to their heroes, mentors....etc...I will be doing an in depth video on Dicky Overby's LDG which I have here in my shop..I know many of us have guitars that belonged to the greats, and were passed down over the years...Look for my entry in a few days...

This guitar used to belong to Dave Zeiglar, who used it when he played in Rusty Draper's road band.

I met Dave in 1980, when I had been playing about a year. I took what was supposed to be a 2 hour lesson from him. After about 7 or 8 hours I told him we had to stop because had had given my so mush information that I couldn't absorb anymore, to which he replied "But Mike, I have so much more to show you." And he insisted that I come back next week for another 8 hour lesson, at no extra charge.

This Kline was one of two that belonged to Jeff Newman, and was played on the 1983 ISGC. Jeff was, or is without question the best known and most widely respected instructors/teacher of PSG. I have learned that he used this guitar in at least 2 of his courses, not sure which 2. I coincidentally play the same copedent as Jeff, it is set up exactly as he played it (wish he had left some of his licks in it,,,LOL).

I have an Emmons p/p that belonged to Doug Jernigan.
It has 11 foot pedals.
I asked him about it and he said: "Yes, that was his guitar at one time".
It needs an extensive rebuilding when I get around to it.

The Justice D-10 that was built for Weldon Myrick. I purchased it from his wife on what would have been Weldon's birthday last year. I went to his home to pick it up and got to see his room full of awards, pretty cool.

They're not steels and their owners weren't steel heroes, but the 1956 ES-125 on the left was owned and played by rockabilly singer and songwriter legend "Groovy Joe" Poovey. A treasured gift from my dear friend, Joe's widow Peggy Poovey.

The 1966 D-28 on the right was owned and played by Jorma Kaukonen when he was with Hot Tuna.
