WELDED FRAME MCI D-10 8x6

Post by john widgren »

Welded frame MCI D-10 8X6. Emmons set up. Deep red mica, metal necks, closed headstock, B&W fretboards, E-66 pickups, Butcher block unflocked floating top.

I did a major cleaning and total re-build, including taking off and cleaning both changers. It was very dirty but with almost no wear. Has new replacement OEM cast pedals. There is no warping of the decks between the changers and endplate. The guitar looks near new..and is in
very good+ to excellent condition, mica and metal look excellent. Plays perfectly (like butter) and tunes perfectly. Looks gorgeous. It sounds wonderful with a huge voice and note release. These rare welded frame guitars are pretty special.

Final price redux: $2900 plus shipping Firm.

John, I have an EMCI with the welded frame. If you want some TONE? And I am talking SERIOUS TONE. This guitar is for you. It is sad they don't make them anymore. Buddy and Bud knew what they were doing, when they built these guitars. Whoever buys this guitar, is going to have a TONE MONSTER.

Switch

Post by john widgren »

This guitar had push button neck selector switches behind the rear apron. They were defective so I removed them and made a small bracket to hold a modern three way mini toggle. Mounts in the exact same spot into the original screw holes so nothing at all has been done to the cabinet (no new holes). The modern switch works much better and nothing has been done to alter the originality of the cabinet.

switch fix

Post by john widgren »

Here is the switch fix. Same location as original, same mounting holes, no modification to the cabinet.

Works great.

My EMCI welded frame will be one steel I'll never part with, it's just that awesome of a steel, C6th is the best sound I've experience and I also own a D-10 Franklin which is also an awesome sounding steel, the C6th comes very close to the EMCI. Go figure........

These are really great guitars, I've had mine for thirty years, bought it new in 1986 and played it to death - and it still sounds amazing !

Ive seen and heard this guitar, it looks and sounds amazing. Think Buddy Emmons's "Christmas album" tone.
Plus, you can't go wrong with John, his set-up work is incredible.
