Well, I didn't find anything dumb or lucky about Emmons with regard to the flap, just that he acquitted himself pretty well in his posts,
but that octapost... Zap him in the eye again!
-------------
But I did check it out. Mr. Emmons said of the business and Ron Jr., "The company is his baby now and he’s doing everything possible to meet his obligations. I believe he’ll do fine if you stay out of his way."

I'm editing my comment for content. I will just let the situation speak for itself.

I thought the shop was no more - now an HVAC company.Lane Gray wrote:Or going to the Lashley shop, making the Emmons parts themselves, and then building the guitars.

Until my wife left her job, I'd been in talks to purchase a new SD-12 Universal push-pull. Obviously, losing an income will postpone a purchase larger than my last 4 cars combined. I do hope to get it built.
I've not seen my D-10 push-pull in 26 years (it's still legally mine, but burglars took possession).
How about YOU providing evidence of the Lashleys delivering guitars as promised?

2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

You know Erv. This CRAP is getting old. So what that you were one of the fortunate one's who didn't get burned. There are far more posts that come up on here that informs people (even people that don't own an Emmons) of how they got burned. Not that you did it, but dealings with Emmons when Ron Sr. was around, can not be included in the rants. The company was good then. It's Ron Jr. that sent the company to it's grave.Erv Niehaus wrote:Lane,
How about a picture of your Emmons and tell us of your 1st hand experiences. The curious minds want to know.
So, it doesn't matter if we have had personal experiences with the Emmons company or not. I would assume that there are many like me, who are tired of you saying that.

Erv, for your information, Buddy's comments are not "heresay", since he made those comments himself, right here on this public forum. And if you think that Buddy expressing himself about the raw deal he got was "throwing dirt", I feel sorry for you, because it indicates you have more respect and admiration for the defunct company than you do for Buddy himself.Erv Niehaus wrote:I prefer 1st hand information. I posted the quote because a lot of the members here weren't around 10 years ago, and I feel they have the right to know some history of what went on behind the scenes.
I'm one of them, and the picture I get from following this sad tale from a distance over the last 3 or 4 years is of a son coming under pressure to take over the family business without having inherited all the necessary talent. It can happen in any line (music, sport, industry) where the son has the acquired knowledge but not the same combined passion and acumen that grew the brand from the ground up.Donny Hinson wrote:Buddy's comments are not "heresay", since he made those comments himself...I posted the quote because a lot of the members here weren't around 10 years ago, and I feel they have the right to know some history
Just guessing, which maybe I shouldn't. Any sympathy for Lashley Jr would depend on whether he is fundamentally dishonest or just out of his depth in the business world. If I'm way off I know I can count on being put straight, probably by several people with different opinions!

All things considered, R Jr is a very savvy Steel technician and knows these guitars inside and out, but thats different than business 101 and business practices.
I do not recall anyone saying they paid for and waited a year or more for an instrument and when it arrived it was a piece of junk.
If indeed someone indeed received a piece of junk after waiting a long time they should say so.

Lane No , not aware, is this someone who received junk ? Where would I find it as I would certainly be interested in the read.

Bottom of this page. Let's see anyone defend Ron's conduct.

Yes Lane thx, I actually found it and remembered the entire story. I even responded !
Thx for the link though. What a mess.
I wonder, did Shawn keep the guitar ? Fast reading thru stated there may have been a couple of last minute things Ron didn't quite finish, did we ever learn the final disposition from Shawn ?
And agreed, no way can conduct like that be defended, certainly not by me. My only point in this continued saga is that they are still fine instruments in spite of the conduct.
Too bad, if ya think about it there was no earthly reason for this Co to go under other real poor management. They certainly had the history, the name , the product and the buyers ! They had people sending them money for something they wouldn't get for a year ! Yipes !
