There doesn't seem to be much posted about it... does anyone have any sound clips? On a scale of 0-100%, how much does it actually sound like a dobro? |

I have used it on occasion with my Telonics rack system. My experience is that it is very realistic when you use the bar that Telonics makes and recommends for the best dobro sound.

I have used it a fair bit too, as per what Billy said, it's very authentic and probably better than the Matchbro which was also very good. I have a patch on my EFX unit as well that is set up to compliment the Bro effect. _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

I use it from time to time to get a pedabro simulation on some stuff, mainly on Keith Whitley and Randy Travis cover songs ("When You Say Nothing At All", "Forever And Ever Amen" etc.) While I have almost no experience with dobro simulator boxes and as such cannot draw any comparisons, I will say that the Telonics sim is a welcome feature for me for sure.
Recently I went out with Sunny Sweeney for a couple days. She did a couple songs from her latest records that had some bottleneck reso parts on them. I used the onboard dobro simulator for those and it worked nicely! I also tried it on some lap steel-type stuff with some mild distortion using a Machine Head Pedals 72 Degrees box. Very cool! _________________ Tommy Detamore

Mark Dunn uses it at the end of this video. About the 3 min. mark. More like you would a Pedabro. It's a short passage, but maybe you can get an idea. |

thanks all for the replies. It sounds very nice, Jerry. Was he using the dobro bar that telonics provides? it looked like just a normal bar. I'm considering holding up all my $$ to continue saving up for a telonics combo. It seems like if I add up the cost of all the features it has and were to ask a different amp builder to put them in there for me, then the telonics doesn't seem so expensive anymore. It seems like the most convenient amp on the market with everything it has. |

I didn't notice, but I don't think he changed bars...just switched on the bro setting.
These systems sound great and are loaded with features. I think the cost is fair considering you're getting the whole she-bang.
You might want to visit Telonics' website and see if they have other samples. |

Dave the Telonics Combo amp is well worth every penny mate, my suggestion is to get the TC Electronics EFX unit as well, with the Handy patch controller - that way you can have that Dobro effect switchable right at the steel and in the middle of a song without having to get out of your seat :-}
The amp is available in a lot of different configurations as well with various speaker combinations.
The dobro effect sounds just as good with the standard bar, as it does with the dobro bar.
