kluson tuners for maverick

Post by Bill Rogers »

I have a "wallpapaper" maverick I bought a back in the summer as a starter guitar, and the 6th string tuner is bad. It binds, then slips and the string cant be tightened. I contacted kluson and they do not make a replacement "yet". I'm a new member to the forum, and a guitar player of many years just getting my feet wet on psg. I'm hooked. Have a single 10 3/4 Fessenden on the way. Thanks.

Hey Bill
Do a google search on Kluson or just on machine heads and I'm sure you will come up with something.I just did a quick seach and came up with 10 pages of stuff.

Just wait for your new guitar and you'll soon forget all about the Maverick until you unload it on E-bay for $$$$$$$$$

Stewart McDonald has a lot of tuning gears. They have the Gotoh copies of the Klusons, but you will be stuck having to buy a set of 6. www.stewmac.com

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try Stewart MacDonald for the tuners and hope to get the Maverick "EBay Ready". When the new Fessenden arrives at the end of this month (I hope), I can always use the Maverick for target practice.

Hey Bill, where's Concord, NC? If you're ever in the Va.Beach area I might have something that would fit that. I have a drawer full of old tuners from my repair days. I know that type of Maverick has the keyhead like an old Fender. Are the keys individual or on a strip? Thanks, JH

Concord is 15 miles north of Charlotte. The The tuners are mounted on a strip, 5 on each side. If I can get them off the strip, I could send you the bad one to see if any of your old ones match. I'm not sure how to remove them, but I have a shop here locally that could probably do it if I can't. If you're willing, send me a physical address and I'll remove the bad one and send it to you. Even if its lost, theres no harm. Thanks for the response and suggestion.
