Topic: What change do you have on string 7(F#) |

I find myself wanting to have a change on my 7th string. What do you guys use? I also find that having the franklin pedal Lower 5,6,and 10 a whole tone doesn't make as much sense to have my Vertical lower my Bs. what do you have on your guitar? Thanks

String 4 is E. LKL raises it to E#/D, LKR lowers it to D#, C pedal raises it to F# (along with raising 5 to C#).
If you mean string 7, I don't have any change on it: I get the G by lowering 6 to F# and adding the B pedal.

Then what Lane said. Most guitars will split the B pedal raise with a knee lower.

Jeff: You should edit the title. It's easy to do.
I lower the sixth string to F# (as part of a split Franklin set-up) on my Williams. But on my Emmons Push-pull I don't have any lowers on that string. I do, however, raise the seventh from F# to G.

Since the title has been edited to the 7th string, I suppose I need to edit my post as well, lol.
String 7 for me is raised, RKR, from F# - G. That change was on my first Sho-Bud, some 35 yrs. ago and I've always liked it, so I stuck with it. Makes for a nice scale run up lick, on pedals lick.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was Terry Bethel that covered a scale lick featuring this change in "Pedal Steel Guitar a Manual of Style."
Could I live without it? I suppose if I had to, but I'm so used to it now and I've built a lot of my playing style, runs, etc. using that raise, I'd kinda like to keep it.

7th string: F# to G is what I have. Gives a minor 3rd and a useful melody note.
Sorry..just saw your 'edit' for the 6th string..I only have the 'sus 4' there.. |

right now no pull, for years I raised 7 ..but as of late I have moved over to lowering 6. If I could get the 7 raise on another lever somewhere that works for me, maybe staggered, I would add it in a NY minute. I would put 7 raise BACK with 1 and 2 raise and put 6 lower all by it's lonesome self .

None. I use it as a bellwether to know if the guitar's tuning has drifted due to temperature changes. It's the only string with no pulls attached.
I used to raise the 7th string to G, but now I get that change on my 6th string lower to F#. It splits with the B pedal to make a G note. For a few years I had F# to G# on my 0 pedal. I think that lowering the 6th string is a better solution.

I raise it to G# with a feel stop at G. I use it a lot. It is the equivalent of the A pedal in AB position when you are playing in no pedals position. I like the pull up to the unison with the 6th string G#. It is on the same knee as the 1st & 2nd string raises.
I have the 6th string lower on a Franklin pedal which I don't use as often. Maybe I'd use it more if I had them split but I don't feel the need with the 7th string raise. |

F# raise a whole tone to G#. I like pretty licks and this gets a maj7 bending it in with A&B pedals down. I use it on the same lever that lowers 2 & 9. Just have to be selective with the string choices.
It's a bonus that the G works at the existing half stop position for string 2 lowers. |

I have the same as Jim Robbins and use it alot. I installed a Michael Yahl, ShoBud feel stop which is normally used on the 2nd string. It's at the L/K/R position. RP

Currently,both F# to G on my vertical. I'm thinking of dumping the 7th string G, although I do use it, and move that string to G# instead. I've tried a half stop on the vertical, and it just didn't work out for me. I also have a 2nd LKL lever (that is currently removed. But I could put the 7th raise to G# on. That way I could keep the G on 7.

F-sharp to G. In combination with the 8th and 6th it makes a nice R&B riff like Al Perkins used on "Six Days On The Road".
Here he plays it on the seventh fret using strings 10, 9 and 8. It sounds the same played on fret two with 8, 7 raised, and 6.
