To my knowledge this is the only one Zane built. I thought you ZB fans would like this!

Dan, from what I was told, Zane built this guitar for Tom Brumley. It may also be one of maybe two mica finished ZB's.

I will try to give you a call tomorrow evening.

Cool. How do you tune it? Are there any pictures of the undercarriage?

I think Tom Brumley showed me this guitar MANY years ago. I mentioned it back in the early days of the forum. Herbster quickly posted that ZB never made a keyless,,,probably meant he never made a "production"
Keyless, never the less, I KNEW I had seen the guitar. At the time I looked for a picture to post but never found one. Not sure if Tom owned the guitar or he just happen to have it at the time. Dan, who owns this guitar now?

Who Owns It

Sonny,
It belongs to the family right now. I thought it would stir some interest being it is so rare.

Looks like it tunes like a Williams on top, with the adjusting bolts pulling horizontally at the keyless end. Interesting instrument.

Zb

Post by Dan Burnham »

Dave,
It will probably be available for sale in the future. I don't know what shape it is in. When I learn more I will post here.

Dennis,
My understanding is it was built around 1968 prior to Zane selling ZB to Tom. For whatever reason Zane ended up with it and had it since he started BMI. A close friend has this and Zane's last BMI keyless push-pull. If it becomes available for sale it will have to be gone through and set back up. My friend is going to send me more pictures of the undercarriage.

What amazes me that there is actually one and the only one and one of two ZBs that had formica.

I am in communication with Greg Jones concerning this guitar.
I will post more info and pictures soon. Thanks for the replies guys,

Dan

In the early seventies I sat behind a strange ZB double neck that belonged to Red Rhodes.
One neck keyless, one neck standard
