A major case of guitar envy goin' on up here! Wow! It doesn't get any better than that.
BTW Ricky, I followed your cleaning and polishing formula on my ZB and it shines almost like that Bud--I would have never believed it if I hadn't tried it and seen it for myself.
Now about that shiny chrome and aluminum...Don't suppose you'd relinquish your formula for that, would you?

Oh my God.
This is one of the finest I have ever seen.Unbelievable job on this one.You can re-firbish my steel guitars any time.
I am with Gary....how did you get that G# on the first string?
And a double stop also...really nice.
Yes Ricky....what's the formula for that.I'm having a hard time making my steels shine like that.

Ok Guys; I'm gunna lay most of it out for ya...No more secrets..ha..Here is my formula for old lacquer.

There ya go…..the whole recipe.
Ok as for the F# to G# with half stop; and yes it feels absolutely wonderful as does the RKR; with perfect timed half stops, but it gets complicated and I wrote a brief tutorial on the spring technique for the Sho~bud; but you'll half to find it.
The very most important thing for that F# 1st string to go to G# with normal travel on the knee lever; is to TIGHTEN the lower spring All the way and that stablilizes the lower section extremely tight; so that the raise section now moves so quick and smoothly and to use a .013p. But to also have this happen; there cannot be ANY friction in the finger pivots or where the rod is pulled from; and that is the chore of taking the whole guitar apart(every part) and clean/polish and rework every moving feature to pull the string(s).
The half stop on that first string is timed by the 2nd string raise and 6th string lower and not having the raise spring(helper spring) on either of those strings is important as that will slow down the raise on the 2nd and let the 6th string lower, happen so much quicker; so that both those barrels hit at the same time to function for the second half of the throw.....yeee haaa.
I can go on and on; but it is so tedious on the exact tension of what springs and what helper springs to not have or have and then string gauging and bla bla....but now I'm outta breath and have 3 more Sho~buds just sittin' here on the floor that I SHOULD be working on..ha.
I do hope that helps some...and I really out-did myself on James' Professional; as it plays so perfect and I would put this one up against any modern multiple raises and lowers; in playability and perfection in tuneability(and this is single raise/single lower..ha); and it's already a given that the tone of this monster pretty much blows the doors off anything made after 1975..ah..ha.(sorry that my confidence seems abnoxios..ha..and I'm not really that way; just proud as can be of the final results after long countless hours and extremely painful to me hands and wrist>yes this is my pity party..ha)

Great job RICKY,she looks so fine!!makes me kindda sick,i've got one just like it,except it needs to go thru the car wash!i sent you picture of it,almost a twin!you are right about those original keys,i got to looking at mine they are trash!mabe i can put some bucks together and get you to fix her up!!Those are fine guitars!!SHO-BUD!

Rick; all the pulls are from Racks; but I'll take off some racks that aren't being used...like the first three pedals on the E9, you will never use the lower rack; so I take it off and makes for a less noisy and smoother pull. The extra LKL for the C6th side is indeed a crossbar mount for the knee lever with two-hole pullers that the rods attach to and run back through the rack holes and pushes a Rack to make the C to C# pulls....ah..ha..
I have to thank Duane Marrs and Jeff Surratt of course; of course for supplying parts and brainstorming that LKL for the C6th side....it works great and is so cool.
WEll maybe it's the lighting or whatever; but this is not tobbacco brown...this is more of a orangish-dark redish stain; that I actually have never seen before on a Sho~bud.
