i'm real sorry to hear this. chris was one of the most prolific posters on the forum. he often got under my skin - i had to tell him to tone it down more than once - but his knowledgable contributions always outweighed his snarky little one-liners. i know most of us will miss him.
rest in peace, chris ivey. you done good here.

the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

This is terrible. I'm really going to miss him.
His posts might have been gruff sounding, but what he said was always spot on. Sometimes folks use too many words to make a point. He didn't, and I'll always remember him for that. He was one of the good guys for sure! RIP.

I'm terribly sad to hear this news - I didn't know him personally but, of course, knew him well on the Forum. If ever I saw that Chris Ivey had posted I couldn't wait to see what he'd written.
A while ago I was getting some flak over something controversial on here and Chris was thoughtful enough to PM me and offer his support for my point of view. Given his sometimes curmudgeonly attitude on-line that came as a welcome surprise.

I'll miss you Chris. We never met, and only had occasion to correspond a couple of times, but I have to say...you had eyes. And, you could actually pick. Godspeed, my friend.

I liked Chris's humor, most of the time we were on the same page. I'll miss his posts. My sincere condolences to his wife and family. Tenn.Lee

Yeah, he annoyed me sometimes, but he was certainly both knowledgeable and quite a character.
I am sorry to hear of his passing and I send my wishes to his family and friends.

I told the story about the old man in the coffee shop I past thru each morning to get my snack and go. This old man keep all the patrons stirred up with his opinions. I asked the owner one day if he was a democrat or republican. The owner said, whatever you're not. Chris said, finally someone understands me.
