Here is a rough version of the track Off Minor, which I tinkered with myself. I only had the 2-track render to fool around with, so consider this far from finished product. Recorded live with some post-recording treatment by me.
Electric Django is my inspiration for the sound and approach here. Not that I copied him or his licks, I just wanted a similar sound and vibe. Of course, it sounds nothing like him, but it is a game I frequently play with myself when soloing or approaching a tune. "What would ______ do?"
This is a wacky one, aided of course by the offbeat organ drawbar settings (which I twisted the organist's arms on!).

Love it! I'm glad the organist went along-it definitely ups the wackiness quotient. |

Thanks, dudes! And yes, I've got quite a few surf arrangements for volume 2. There WILL be a Vol. 2, guaranteed. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Cool! If you want to call it wacky, it's wacky in a good way.
Did you ever hear the George Benson record with Jimmy smith on organ called "Off the top?" Smith used some unusual drawbar sounds on Ain't Misbehaving' ....

When I say wacky, I mean by SGF standards. My own wackiness gauge is syncronized a bit more liberally.
I'm a big fan of all organ sounds, from Fats Waller to Richard Groove Holmes to Bach to Jon Lord..... However, getting an organist to comply is not always the easiest task. Matt was very open to my "suggestions". _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Electric Django, always pushing the envelope. The organ sound really sets the piece off.
Looking forward to vol. 2 surf music already. |

I dig it Mike. I like how the percussion sets up the tune. |
I'd like to credit Louis Prima with that. Think of this track as Louis Prima meets Django; that's how my head works. Children are born of two separate sets of genes, I like to think of music that way, too. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |
