Bob Allen is in the process of building an 8string Lap steel for me,Cherry wood,George L pickup,Should be excellent may 3weeks,I gave my last lap steel away last year,A friend had some surgery where a non cancerous tumor was removed...he had one of those Halos screwed into his skull so I donate my old Supro six string to help raise some money...Mike Neer was kind enough to send me a tuning that I will use...And my friend is still with us!

That's what its all about Stu... Way to go man. I hope you enjoy your new guitar. Bob has helped me out in the past and does a great job. Oh and PTL!! I'm glad your friend is still with us and hope he continues to do well!!

I have got a new 7 string lap steel coming from Bob in about a week or so. He has made a few others for me in the past and I am looking forward to getting this one. I decided on a 7 string because I will use A6 tuning hi to low E C# A F# E C# A. The 8th string just gets in the way for me so I just left it off this time.

I have an 8 string Melbert also, tuned to A6. Since I didn't have much use for the low F#, I tuned it to G and now have some nice 7th chords on the low strings that I use a lot.
