Margarete Hintze

Post by Colin Bolton »

My dear friend and Hungarian wife (mausi) of the Hawaii Gitarrist Virtuose Erwin Hintze passed away on the 22 June, Margarete a wonderful Marionettist toured
all over Germany for many years at Dreorgel Festivals
with Erwin on his beautifully adorned Hawaiian Guitars
as the duo "Die Sailings" Erwin singing and playing his
favourites such as La Paloma, Heimatlos, and Green Green Grass of Home amongst many others, with Margarete
working the Puppets; otto, susi, zoe,Jocko, lelani, and
heidi, a very popular duo, and a big favourite of mine,
their videos have been seen here, and were presented by the late Irmgard & Horst Rohman who performed everywhere with their drehorgels, Horst was a big fan of hawaiian music and adored Erwins playing, hence the videos that have been presented, the duo ceased performing in public in 2005 as Margarete had fallen down the stairs resulting in being paralysed down the left hand side, the years that followed brought more ill health and she became bedridden,
to someone who has given pleasure and entertainment to thousands of people it is cruel indeed, recently
dear Margarete suffered a stroke shortly after her 84th birthday, and entered hospitol, she began to improve but sad;y suffered another stroke, after a week of not being able to eat or drink, she passed,
Rarely in my lifetime have I met and communicated
with kinder people, and I am gutted that we have lost this dear lady, and I am also sorry for my dear friend Erwin who is among the best Hawaian guitarists
in the world, Margarete good night and god bless.

Colin.

Very sad. It's painful to lose talented, quality people who have made such valuable contributions to everyone.
