'69 D-10 Emmons P/P Fatback - 8 x 4 - *Price Increase I*

Post by Bill Terry »

Lowering the price didn't seem to sell the guitar, so I'm going to raise it. Formerly 4150.00 shipped, now 4151.00 shipped.. Buy today!! save money!!! it's going up another dollar soon..

Selling this excellent oak mica '69 P/P fatback. I am the second owner of this guitar, and it is been completely refurbished and setup by Lynn Stafford to absolutely perfect playing condition. Since the guitar was really clean as it was, I asked Lynn to just leave the natural look that a well cared for 47 year old guitar has, rather than make it look like it was made yesterday. It could certainly be professionally polished etc. if that's the look you want. The normal wear is VERY minimal, and the guitar is probably 95% original in every way, however this is not a 'closet queen', it's seen a few bandstands. Fingerboards were replaced by Lynn with correct replacements from another similar era 60's P/P, but the guitar is essentially as it left the factory (2 additional KLs were added at some point in the past).

It has original changers and all mechanics except where Lynn felt any worn parts needed replacement. This guitar plays like a dream, excellent in every way. I also have some of the original paperwork from the first and only other owner, including a letter from an heir with the history of the guitar. I'm really not crazy about selling this guitar, but I've reached P/P overload with two bolt-ons now in the house, so I'd prefer that it go somewhere where it will get played.

- Original changers and all mechanics except where Lynn felt any worn undercarriage parts needed replacement.
- Stock Emmons PUs, around 17.5K ohms
- Standard E9 copedant with E's on LKL and LKR, RKR lowers 2 and 9 (great half stop feel on 2), RKL lowers 6 full tone and raises 1 a full tone. Standard C6 setup.
- Original case, it's a bit worn after all these years and probably not suitable for a lot of travel, but ok for casual local gigging.

Asking 4151.00 including shipping to continental US location, or make an offer. Local sale welcomed but not required. I'm in the central Texas area, and I don't mind meeting in the middle somewhere within a couple of hours drive.

Yes, it's true... Bill and I spent quite a bit of time together on the phone, just to make sure he got everything he wanted in this fine steel. A few weeks after he bought the guitar, I was able to meet him at the Dallas Jamboree. What a pleasure!

A lot of effort and care went into the mechanical restoration of this Emmons. It's in great, original cosmetic condition (just like Bill wanted) plays as well as most any newer all-pull guitar and has PP tone to die for.

Whoever buys this will be a very happy camper!
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford

Have the knee levers been removed, or are they still part of the coped? J

Hi John,
Nope it's still 8 x 4 as shown in the photos. I think you may be talking about the spot where a KL bracket(?) was apparently attached at one time? I'm not sure what that was, maybe a vertical? It was already gone when I got the guitar.

Lynn filled the holes and touched up the flocking, but it's visible of course. It doesn't show near as much in person as it does in the photos for some reason.

Thanks for looking!

The LKR was originally located in that area. It is now located where it is most typical and more easily accessed. I filled the holes with hardwood doweling and touched up the flocking, as Bill mentioned.
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford
