Hearing Aids
What's going on in this world? Almost all women and children mumble these days, barely audible. Birds don't chirp and sing like they used to...probably some form of evolution. Why can't the television folks put out a decent audio signal any more? And those damned crickets. All day and all night I hear crickets. My wife doesn't hear them at all. She must be hard of hearing or something.
All kidding aside, it's time to go to the audiologist. I just found out our insurance has pretty good coverage for hearing aids.
I know hearing aids are getting better and better these days. I spoke to a guy at a meeting recently and asked him about his. He showed me how he could make adjustments to his hearing aids with his iPhone. He could even stream audio signals directly to the hearing aids.
Time to start my research. Any insights or advice from you guys?

Costco.
Paid much more for multiple sets elsewhere, these are the best I've had.

I have a pair of Oticon hearing aids. They have little speakers that sit in my ears. They amplify only the frequencies where I have loss, and the frequencies that I can hear pass through unaltered. I'd stay away from aids that cover the whole ear cavity, because they have to amplify everything. they were spendy, but I'm tickled pink with them.

I am happy with my Oticons as well. I'd rather have the high frequencies back the way they were before I joined a certain Toronto bar band a long time ago, but they have made a big difference. And when I first got them a few years ago, I turned on a Ry Cooder cd on the car stereo on the way back to the office and had to pull over - the guitars sounded so great.

Bill in the Kirklands, they actually programed four different settings for different environments. I use the settings based on where I am and what is going on around me such as ambient noise etc. They actually asked what I would be doing and did some of the programming based on what I told them. I hope that helps you.

Hearing aids
Is there a hearing aid that will give a person their tones back? I lost my tones a little over 3 years ago and my guitar sounds like it is out of tune.
