This is my first post on SGF. I've been looking around for some well notated Hawaiian tunes of the slow n' sleepy variety.

I've done all the googling I think I can handle. So far I've come across some great resources, but lots of tabs are difficult to find, or come with no rhythmic notation.

In particular, I'm wanting to find "Adventures in Paradise".

I did come across a non-pedal tab thread here on SGF which had some good stuff.

I also just ordered Jerry Byrd's instruction manual via Scotty's Music, very much looking forward to that.

Thanks in advance!

Jerry's big course is still the best one out there. And check out Mel Bay's C6 non-pedal steel method by DeWitt Scott. I have some lap steel song books with a few Hawaiian songs in them (tab with notation and audio). Click on the links below for more info. Best of luck in your search.

Thanks Doug, I've got a print out of your notation of Akaka Falls, very handy.

Guess I should have mentioned, I'm playing in C6 mostly at the moment, but I have this whole other neck I've been neglecting on my console (2 X 8 string), currently tuned to E7. I might try out a B11.

Hi Marco,
I have a C6th arrangement of Beyond the Reef. Send me an email, and I'll send you the tab as an attachment.

I bought the Jerry Byrd set earlier this year, it's unbelievable.

Some very good options up above, here's a good set of tabs with video analysis to Blue Hawaii

tabs are in the video description.

Get ahold of Margie May through the Forum or Google the SWSGA news letter. I have been using her for instruction in the Phoenix area and she teaches both pedal and none pedal and Hawaian music is her passion. Also, you can find her on YouTube.

All great responses, thanks all!
I went ahead and ordered the Jerry Byrd manual, I live up in Canada, so it's hard to come across hard copy of this stuff.

Gerald, thanks for the tip on Margie May, just watched a youtube clip and she sounds great.

Thanks Ricky, I appreciate the tab!
