For open tunings - scales and chords- android app

Post by Kristen Bruno »

Android app i had on my phone for years to see open tuning chords for my guitar. You can also expand the number of string to 12.
Then find the chords and scales.
Or make your own eight string C 6 tuning for example and look at the scales on the fretboard. (the chords wont help you with a straight bar).
The app is called Chord!
Useful for me to find certain scales in certain keys.

Found a similar app for my Kindle

Post by Therman Jones »

Thanks for posting about this, Kristen. I couldn't find the app you mentioned, but I was able to locate a free app on Amazon called smartChord for my Kindle. It lets me set up a custom 8 string tuning, then shows scales, arpeggios and one fret chords (not many). It also includes a metronome, tuner, multiple instrument sounds,a lifetime subscription to AARP magazine...sorry, I already had the magazine....it's a neat app, well worth the price. A lot better than drawing a fretboard and writing in all the notes by hand. I did that back in the 70's and 80's. Who said "You can't teach an old dog new tricks?"
