Neo Speakers for Musicman HD130 212?

Post by David Thornburgh »

Hey Forum: I just bought a Musicman with the idea of using it for both my Sho Bud Pro 1 and Tele. I'm thinking about replacing the stock speakers with neo speakers to save some weight. Any suggestions?

I've heard good things about the Travis Toy from Eminence, and I'm well pleased with the Telonics 12 in my Milkman. I'd be tempted to get one of each.
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Thanks--those are some spendy speakers, huh? Wonder if there's anything more reasonable?

If you Google 8 Ohm 12 inch neodymium speakers, just about the cheapest you find are $130, and they're Celestions, which will probably break up early.

I think Mike Perlowin put Telonics in his Music Man; you might ask him.

Ben is correct. I also replaced the tubed and caps and had it re-biased. The amp sounds like a million bucks.

But it's still weighs twice as much as my Quilter. It's a great amp for somebody who is younger and stronger. Not so great for a 70 year old geezer.

My favorite is the Jensen 12" Neo, Tornado. Great 100 watt speaker and affordable!

Ken, the problem with the Jensens is the Musicman is a 130 watt amp and the Jensens are only rated for 100. Maybe I'll look into the Telonics. Thanks, all!

For a two 212 amp that is 1/2 of 135 watts per speaker.
