Steeling

Post by Steve Cagle »

I am enjoying the lessons and getting a lot out of the lesson.., i have been playing about a couple of years and had stalled out.. Like I was playing the same thing on every song. So I have progressed a lot watching and listening to what William is saying..I can tell that I'm improving a lot.. Sometimes I practice so long my right foot gets to hurting..
But I love the pedal steel more since I have been watching William.. And I can afford it..
Thanks William

stuart, since you yourself don't play steel,
how do you apply the knowledge from these lessons?
I judged these lessons to be very useful and well worth the $5.
It was just a shameless commercial.
After I spent a lot of money and at the time had all his llive courses William decided I should spend my money on subsandwiches and canceled my subscription.
He didn't like my opinion on his (If you don't play my way then you can't play and never will be able to play)

I don't see William as being a my way or the highway sort of guy. The only thing that he is insistant on is developing right hand technique to improve your playing. I don't think that anyone would argue on this point. If anything, William continually advocates adding your own take onto what he is teaching.

People who teach an instrument teach the way that they play. In choosing a teacher, a player first has to evaluate what the teacher has to offer to the student. William has numerous youtube videos to allow this to happen.

Self promotion is very necessary in a small pond that does not hold a bazillion people wanting to learn the instrument. From my perspective, I want him to keep the Saturday broadcasts going and to that end I applaud the self promotion. Just sayin...

Howard it wasn’t self promotion. I was the one who continually posted Shameless commercials for William and continue to state that the live sessions are great and I would recommend them to anyone.
William up to the point he canceled my subscription had continually advocated adding your own take onto what he was teaching except for the right hand to which he held stringently to It’s this way or you can’t play and never will be able to play to the point he started ranting about it at the beginning of each show.
The rants began to take up more and more of the beginning of the broadcast and I made the mistake of pointing this out to him. I was a paying customer so I felt I had the right to complain!
I don’t regret the money I spent. Not being able to tune in is my lose. I really enjoyed those sessions.
