MSA Convention

Post by Richard Gonzales »

Reece, Is there any plans in the future to have a MSA convention or a MSA family get together? How many MSA players would be interested?

How about a possible MSA owners (vintage and new) "get-together/convention" in the MSA room at the Dallas in March?

A Dallas Fort Worth Texas phone box should be about the same size as New Zealand. Yea bo Paddy you're probably right. They'd all fit in providing they didn't bring their wives' purses. Image

Paddy, me lad, certainly understandable that an MSA convention would not be received too well there, however, with over 2000 MSA guitars made in some years, it's quite possible there are a few left somewhere. Without a dog in the hunt I don't think I would be too interested either. But Paddy if you make it to Dallas you're welcome to come out here and spend time with me. We'll treat you well.

I would be interested in an MSA convention.

Some of you folks need to quit living in the past. Hate can kill you...and will.

Fred,

I don't think we need to worry to much about pedal steel cobbers in New Zealand. I have a brother in law there and during my many visits have seen a few. You could count them on your fingers. They are of little consequence, and more into sheep dog trials than than MSA pedal steel. tbh

Richard,

What time of year did you have in mind? Also, annually? Or, a One-time thing?

It might be a fun thing to do if there were enough people interested. The logistics and timing might not be good at the same time as the Texas show. Maybe later in the year would be better.

Dave- I think it should be the decision of the principals of the company.
Although I might recommend to have it an annual affair at a different location each year. It could be its own thing or part of a convention/jam.
MSA could show new products and tell us what might be coming down the road, have seminars, guest artist, even a beginners session playing their MSA's, fun and games, bringing family and etc.
The new MSA company is in its early stages and might not want to take on an endeavor of this magnitude.
I also believe there should be a nominal fee to help support the event. They could also get sponsers from accessory manufactures.
How many people do you think would attend?
50,100 or more ?

If MSA decides to ignore the Idea, that's okay too as I still love playing my Millennium!!!

Richard,

Reece, Kyle, Jerry and I have discussed the general outline of such an idea, but getting the new company started and the attendant issues that accompany getting "up and running" have taken priority and the idea hasn't moved beyond the discussion stage.

If there was enough interest, now might be a good time to look at the idea more closely.

Now we need to find a place to put those 50,100 people you mentioned:-)

Dave, Texas Stadium should work fine. Even if it rains, we could continue to play the Milleniums since their not affected by any amount of moisture!! Image

Seriously though, it sounds like a great idea to me!!!
