| If I lowered my second string to D on my LKL that raises my E's to F would it cause a problem musicaly ??????? Thanks, Gary |

I would never do that. You lose the 2nd tone of the scale when you try to do scale run on the re-entrant strings when working from A + F position.

And you lose the Hal Rugg type licks, again in the A+F position (F lever is the only change that this lick needs). I use the following.
1.
2. _10_______8_____7
3. _10_______8_____7A
4._____10F_____8F_____7
If I was to move any of the 2nd string changes, I might put it on the lever that lowers the E's. But I really haven't checked that out. I can't imagine playing any runs or licks that need 2 D#'s that are exactly the same note.

The short answer is, yes, problems.
To be more specific, the string 2 D# is the second scale degree of the AF position (C# Maj at the nut).
String 2 lowered to D is the 4th scale degree of the major scale based off the AB pedal position.
So, not a great idea as it messes up both those vital scale forms.
Doesn't play well with the other basic use of that 2nd string D as the b7 of the open E chords, either.
To my way of thinking, the best way to eliminate that feel stop on string 2 is to put the whole step lower on the lever that lowers 4 and 8 to D# and keep the lower to D by itself.

OOPS! Actually no pedals are used. Just the F lever. That is a run from the B chord on 10, down to a B chord at 7.
