A little mystery lap steel. No builder name. Double six-string necks. Looks like mahogany. Dual output jacks. Unusual two blade-pin configuration.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?
Thanks
Al

There is something about it that reminds me of Magnatone, though the body shape is similar to an Electar. Looks like a cool guitar. I'd like to see more pics of the headstock, pickup and the fretboard.

The pickups appear to be the Pix humbuckers used by Hofner in the mid '60s, though a lot of Japanese guitars had similar-looking pickups through the early '70s.

I'm thinking it's an unusually nice home-built steel.

Could it be an Alamo?

Interesting...

Whatever it is, Mike Neer nailed the description--total Magnatone/Electar mash-up.

My first impression was Japanese... Guya/Teisco, etc. The pickups, the knobs, and the tuner buttons. Could be a home made mix of parts.

Looking at the metal plates that hold the bridge, pots & pickup it is very close to the 50's & 60's Hofners. the pickup is similar and they used the same knobs for tone & volume.

Thanks, friends. Looks like this is a homemade double made with the guts of two Hofner Hawaiian lap steels. Now to rewire the two outputs to a single 1/4", while keeping that mod reversible.

The pickups and knobs remind me of a '60's "Beatle" Bass (only a six string version of the pickups).

Neat looking guitar. No need to rewire--just use a Y-Cord. Enjoy! Cool
