Somebody on a FB forum asked me if there's any kind of date-coding embedded in Peavey amp serial numbers or if there's a website where you could input information and get an approximate manufacture date.I'd never thought much about it,partly because I bought a lot of my Peavey gear new,but now that I have thought about it,that sounds like something useful to know.Is there such a resource?

Thanks!

In the early days, Peavey serial numbers would look like "1A" or "5E" which would indicate the year of manufacture. The 1A would mean 1981 and the 5E might be 1985, but you would have to know what decade(10 year period) that your product was manufactured in. Example; you can not determine what year a Peavey s/n is manufactured in today as most all have overseas s/n's on them now. Please call for date of manufacture for these numbers.
