Just looking into the sizes of bars

My Dunlop 920 packaging says that it's 2 7/8 long

But it measures 3 1/4 to the tip

I noticed the Billy a Coopers website describes their 920s as 3 1/4

I have just worked out that they measure 2 7/8 along the straight edge only of the bar (and doesn't include the length of the bullet nose)

Just thought I'd share that little insight with any of you similarly confused (and in case I've STILL got it wrong and need to be set on the right path) ...

I believe a standard 10-string bar usually measures from 3 1/4" to 3 3/8" long, and that includes the radius (for all other manufacturers). I have no idea why Dunlop chooses to define the "length" differently. Confused

But on second thought, they are dealing with pedal steelers, so that might have something to do with it. Winking

The playable length SHOULD be listed length.

The Dunlop site currently lists the 920 as 3 1/4" long

My 920 from Musician's Friend came in a plastic sleeve packaging. I purchased it within the last 6-8 months. On the sleeve insert it lists the specs as;

920 Stainless Steel
7.5 oz.
7/8" x 3 1/4"

It seems the measurement standard has changed from " playable length " (thanks Lane) to overall length, at least for Dunlop

Sorry Lane, but I have loads of advertising from the inception of the pedal steel (back in the "Ed Sale" days), and bar size has always been listed as a total (overall) length.

I agree, Donny. But I still think the other makes more sense

I say the bar should fit the hand not the guitar, and I find my 2 7/8 long Dunlop 920 guts my hand perfectly!
