We were indeed fortunate to get Doug to come upstairs and give us a set of straight steel... a man of many accomplishments, I need only point you to his Wikipedia entry:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Je...

and his own 'digndoug' webpage:

http://www.digndoug.com/

... where he has music for sale as well as lessons (even remotely, via Skype!). Thanks Doug, we're looking forward to next year if you can make it!

The Texas Steel Guitar Association's Rick Alexander Sessions are held in memory of Rick Alexander, who ran the non-pedal room at the annual TSGA Jamboree for many years. You can find Rick's performance and instructional video on YT under the rickalexander47 and 'Rick Alexander 1947-2009' channels. Gone but not forgotten, thanks for your contributions Rick.

Imagine my horror when I looked up in the middle of Doug's 'Sleepwalk' and saw that my main camera was not recording... luckily I had two cameras going for the whole event, so I was able to get both Doug and Rose's sets in spite of my goof. See if you can tell when we transition...

He don't need no stinkin pedals.
Note Doug is primarily a palm blocker. I think he's got one of the best right hands in the biz at this point.

That's one of the things that impressed me most. Those are some hip, staccato runs. Great technique at the service of musicality.

That was great. I 'd love to hear Doug do a non pedal recording.

Watch his tapping foot go for the non-existent pedals. But he's still amazing. Shocked

Does anybody know if any of the CD's or lessons on Doug's site are non-pedal?
