Had the great pleasure of meeting Bruce at the Dallas show. What a class act!!

If you haven't gotten the book, it is a must for every steel player! Puts things in historical perspective and a great read even for the seasoned player!!

Thanks Bruce for a great visit at the Dallas show! It was great chatting about our mutual friends from the SC area.

No steels were on display at his booth in the main ballroom, but there were several that were played on the stage by various people to include the following artists:

-- Paddy Long (New Zealand)
-- Doug Jernigan
-- Mike McGee

Paddy Long played his Zum Hybrid. Doug & Mike's guitars were not hybrids, but sounded great as well.

I took my Zum out to the show and Bruce looked it over and made a few adjustments to it. He also installed a new white "Zum Steel" emblem on the front that stands out better against the mahogany mica. He's a great guy!

I agree with whats said about Bruce. I had him build me a D10 back in 1995 and when I saw him at various shows, he always remembered me and spoke...that impressed me...I am a nobody in the steel guitar world and yet he took the time to talk to me and remember me by name because I was a customer. When I saw him in Dallas this year I told him how I had regretted selling that steel, but he commented about how much I enjoy my Zum Stage One...he had read my comments on the steel forum in regards to it...that impressed me also ! I havent read the book yet that I bought from him, but I am looking forward to it. A really nice man and a class act !

I bought a copy of the book on Friday and finished it on Sunday. I recommend it to everyone here.

Frankly, I couldn't put the book down. I was reading the book during meals, behind my product table, up in the room. It's a fascinating read and very well written; Bruce has a great command of the language and tells his story in a conversational way, with many great anecdotes that both pro and semi-pro readers will appreciate.

Thanks for a great way to share your story, BZ! Smile

I really, really, enjoyed Bruce's book! Like Herb, I couldn't put it down. It also happens to be a great source of historical information about the steel guitar world.

I can't wait for the sequel........just sayin' Bruce...

i too had bought a loaded D10 from bruce. best thing i ever did. the first few years he was easy to get ahold of and offered lots of help. but then when i went to the june jam one year hoping to meet him in person, he was too busy with well known players around to give me a minute.
it was kind of a letdown.
i enjoyed the info in his book.
my steel finally needs a little attention after being dragged around the world for 34 years.
i mailed him a question about it with my book order
and he sent me a note referring me to jim palenscar.
so everyone's got their own story, i guess.

I read about two thirds of Bruce's book on the flight(s) home from Dallas, I couldn't put it down either, such a well written book and amazing to read about the trials and sacrifices both Bruce and Dorene made to bring us these amazing guitars ... makes you realise how much of an obsession they can be hehe ...

Bruce has been a pleasure to deal with and his book a pleasure to read. Great job of putting the reader on locaction. I was blessed to meet his wife at Dallas also and truly there is a great women behind every great man. He has been very supportive of my young son and since he has quit taking orders has nothing to gain. I feel very fortunate as a father to have him support my son and his efforts.
