I'm interested in changing the 4x10 configuration of my '93 (USA made) Blues Deville to 2x12 or 1x15 and using it as a dedicated amp for my Desert Rose S-10. After taking a close look, I'm not sure if there's enough room for two 12s (especially the EV coffee cans I have sitting around) Any suggestions? Any concerns with changing the baffle?
As a side note, I only play out a few times per year so not interested in buying a new amp - just wanna get the most I can out of the Blues Deville. THANKS! |

I posed a similar question here:

So that might be a starting place. I haven't done anything with mine yet though. I'll let you know if I do. _________________ Proud parent of a good dog. |

You could get a separate 2 12 cab and run an external out at 4 ohms with the speakers in parallel. Just see if you like it and put those speakers to use and not worry about baffleboard, unless you love it that much and can fit the coffee cans in there. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

The HR Deville and Blues Deville 2x12's are staggered, not mounted straight across. The cabinet widths are the same, the heights are different from the 4x10 cab.
The 12 on the right (view from the front) ,transformer side, is mounted lower and the 12 on the left is mounted higher. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

A 4x10 cab has more speaker area and better low end than a 212 cabinet. You might try a 212 extension first to compare and then consider an upgrade on the tens?? Jim Evans and I spent a lot of time talking about the 4 speaker, open back type cabinet. A real marvel for tone. Jim built a 4x8" cabinet for steel and said it was one of the best cabs he ever tried out!
Just a thought! |
