Putting together some drawings for new lap steels and consoles. These will be offered for sale. Can't decide whether to have brushed aluminium bridges and nuts or polish them to a high shine. I like highly polished bridges and nuts but the lightest rub with a guitar string will show a scratch mark. I dont mind the look of brushed aluminium and there's less work involved. Just wondering if brushed aluminium or polished aluminium would be your choice if buying a newly made steel guitar. |

As general rules, I prefer brushed to polished, simple to ornate, silver to gold. That said, I have quite a few stringed instruments ranging from rather plain to quite ornate and they all get played. I suppose in the end it is the overall effect of the total look and sound.
YMMV. _________________ "For every expert, there is an equal and opposite expert." -- Arthur C. Clarke |

For the stepped aluminium keyheads I use on consoles, I have them and the bridges highly polished. On lap steels the brushed aluminium bridges and nuts still look pretty good and don't take anything away from the finish. |
