Topic: Identify a Steel .... even a little |

A pedal steel has shown up on my local classifieds.... no make or model mentioned and when I asked the seller they know very little about it.
I know these pictures don't say much... all I can really tell is that it is a 3x4 with some decent parts (legs, tuners, etc...). Does anybody recognize what it might, or should I just ignore it completely and move on?

it's got a fessenden fretboard. maybe an econo model with black endplates, etc?
looks like a good steel. |

Changer looks Fess. Some lever hardware looks Fess. Open headstock does not. Cross shaft brackets do not. Bellcranks are not.
I know nothing about early Fessendens so I can't guess as to whether this might be an old model before he (hypothetically) changed to full width body-attached cross shafts and closed headstock. |

I never thought about it, but I am in Linkon pedal steel country here... I'm not sure if Wayne Link machined his own parts, or pieced up parts of other makers.
I should check with Wayne to see if he recognizes anything. He never responds (likely never reads) emails so I have to do it the old fashioned way  |

I worked on a Fessy once, and the bellcranks look similar to the one's in the pic, but maybe not as thick. I don't remember all the details, but that undercarriage looks like what little I remember about that guitar.
