Does anyone have any information on these type of pickup? How are they and how can I get a hold to them? I have a pickup that I want to buy but I would like to have it rewound and tapped. This person seems mysterious and unknown except by BMI itself. Or does anyone know if Mr. Wallace could and would rewind one of these? Thanks

Dwight

As long as the pickup is not potted, and can be disassembled, it can be rewound and even have taps put in.

Potting is a process whereby the pickup is submerged in various combinations of beeswax and paraffin and is commonly used to prevent microphonics and extraneous noise as well as protecting the internal windings of the pickup. I use an electric potting pot from Stewmac to melt the mixture. A standard potted pickup can be rewound- not a problem- still have to strip the windings from the bobbin.
