I'm posting these photos for a friend who wants to know what kind of lap steel this is. Thanks for your help!

Hi Rose,

I've seen that style and fretboard design branded as Kalina but would say it's a Supro under a different name. Those pickups are cool and the kind Ry Cooder uses on his famous Strat.

Is there no name on the headstock?

This is from Brad's page, indeed labeled a Kalina by Supro:

Based on the reference material I have seen looks like this lap steel was

Made by Valco ( branded guitars National / Supro / etc.)

Year - 1954 based on serial number X 39469

Yes, built by Valco and branded for several companies... Airline, Supro, and any music studio that would place a minimum order. It was considered a student grade lap steel in the 1950s, but they do sound very good... a string-through pickup, single control knob (no tone control), Kluson tuners, hard-wired cord, chipboard case.

I have a no-name one and I call it an Airline. It looks exactly like the Airline lap steel that was sold at Montgomery Ward back in the 50s. It also looks just like the one you posted, Rose.

Here's a video I made with it recently ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSG4w4D54PQ
