Just finished re-mixing this song I recorded.
I'm using my 7 string postwar Rick. C13th tuning.

Fine work Derrick, especially on the harmonics.

Magnificant Derrick. The old Ricky retains that Hawaiian flavour I can't forget from 1948 when I was taking Hawaiian guitar lesons. The backing very much complimented the tune. Keep up that good work.

Aloha Derrick,
I just listened to your music again. Beautiful.
And I haven't forgotten about all the Hawaiian music, books etc that I'm going to send you. Getting it together now. Haven't forgotten Jack either. We hope to get to Hawaii,- with Frank & Donna,- next year for about a month.
Very Happy Wally

Absolutely beautiful. By the way, I really like the way you nailed the "Hawaii Calls" rendition of "Manuela Boy" on your site (Jules Ah See perhaps?). I have never been able to duplicate this tune exactly as it was played on the "Hawaiian Strings" album...I've tried C13th and B11 (close but not exact).

Please solve my decades old mystery - what tuning did you use on your recording of this great old tune? Thanks.

Thanks Jeff. G11 works perfectly for this arrangement. I never would have guessed. Mystery solved.

That was great Derrick!

I have to tell you my cat and I have a morning routine where I get up early and to my music room. He usually just hangs out there with me - acting somewhat indifferent. This morning we were in there and as I was playing your tune, my cat jumped up in my lap and started rolling around and purring in a most unusual way. I think you have a feline fan here in Nashville!

Thanks Jeff for responding. I don't get on the Forum as much as I used to. Frank, happy that you have the tuning to play this classic song.

Dave, glad I got a feline fan in Nashville! Very Happy
