Who Would Be The Best Person Or Company To Take A Push Pull To To Have It Freshend Up And Make Like New Again.(Look and Play)

Mike Cass has fixed and customized two Emmons PP guitars for me in the past. He just finished my latest PP. It is a D-12 which he dressed up to 9 and 9. Mike does great work. It is not easy getting all that crap on a push pull and having it work. It plays and sounds great.

btw Bobby, are you related to my old,old friend Richard Jacks? He sold me my first Dobro,a Hounddog brand in 1969. Dick was invaluable to me in my teenage years with his great attitude and information on the Dobro. At that time about all the Dobro articles,etc available at the time were found in "Mugwumps" folk music quarterly or occassional bits in "Sing OUT!". Dick sent me pics, tapes, articles etc that kept me going. Heck of a good guitar he sold me,too.

Hey Bobby, not to take anything away from Mike Cass as I have only heard good things about him, but Bryan Adams in Mountain City, TN also has a good reputation for rebuilding push pulls.

Mike Cass is a stand-up guy and will do a good job for you.

You might also try Bobby Bowman in Houston. Same recommendation...

I can't speak for the cosmetic restorations,but I bought a Push Pull in Nashville that was set up there and it wound up in Houston in the hands of Bobby Bowman because it just wasn't "right". As far as its' ease of playing after it came back to me, I'll put it up against anybody's work. Bobby Bowman not only in my opinion the best with a p/p, he is a sincere and great man and won't quit until it is RIGHT ! If you don't like what he has done, he will not take your money ! Bobby, Mike worked on mine and it is still working right. That was two years ago. It stays in tune and plays in tune.

Mike Cass just reworked my push pull and it plays like a dream. i used it on a record today and it sounded incredible. He also put a truetone pickup in the E9. I finally remembered what great tone was.

I`m very suprised nobody mentioned Bobbe Seymour who is a PP guru.Every PP I ever had went thru Bobbe`s hands and there was nothing else to say but the best about his work and knowledge.And the monster TONE he get out of those guitars...well,that is another great story.

i just finished mine about three weeks ago.
i did it all by myself, in my own apartment between the kitchen and the living room except for spraying the clear lacquer. i had my friend do that for me, but i buffed it and polished it. took every single screw...spring...rods and everything else apart. change the color and even buffed and polished all metal parts.
i traded my 3 year old mullen r/p d-ten for this 30 year old EMMONS P/P D-10 W/8&4 machine. i tell you if he saw it now he'l want it back.
THAT'S A BIG NO-NO.
if someone could show me how to post pictures on the forum i will gladly post a few.
sorry i can't do this for anybody else. i just don't have the space to do it. as you know this is a very messy job.

Carlos, I'd like to see pictures of that guitar. Does it have wood necks? I have only seen one other lacquer P/P with wood necks - the one Gary Brandin plays. It's beautiful and sounds great!

The funny thing is, the guitar was originally a deep blue color, but faded to a kind of green that still looks great! He said he bought it from Mike Cass.

The blue did not fade, the lacquer yellowed, hence the green. This is a problem with most lacquer finishes. The one that doesn't is made by Ed Falakwa.
