I have a fairly new Mullen G2, D10. Yesterday I changed strings and the 6th on E9 keeps detuning. I bring it up to pitch and a few minutes later it's way flat. So I pulled that string and put on a new one, a 22p and its doing it too. It's a Grover. I called Grover service and they say I should take it to a luthier. He thinks something is wrong with the guitar, not the tuner. They did say they would replace it, if I send the defective one.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Speak to Mike at Mullen, that is first thing I would do.

Malcolm, That was the first thing I did. Mike told me to call Grover in that Mullen doesn't make the tuners, so they don't warrant them. But, I do agree that the Mullen staff is the best there are.

Jim, have you considered changing over another tuner ( maybe one on string that hasn't got changes on it) and see what happens.

How many wraps on the tuner? Strings will slip and make it flat on the return...

I would look at the drop return spring on that string. If its too loose that could cause that. If it has "lift off" (lower starts before the raise) it can cause problems. I doubt that its the tuning key. You can confirm whether its the tuning key by putting that string on one of the others, like the 7th string tuner to test.

Problem solved. Let's call it "operator error". I had over tuned the tuning nut. Thanks everyone.
