Lehle volume pedals

Post by Tim Tweedale »

Anyone tried out these volume pedals out of Germany?

They look pretty sweet. The magnetic sensor seems like a solid bet for sound and (lack of) wear and tear. And there's an adjustable gain.

Anyone have any experiences with these and care to share them?

I've used their switching gear for years and their gear is built like tanks to take the abuse of pros on the road. If the volume pedal is anywhere near the build quality of their switchers, it should be great. I'm very tempted to check one out myself.

An other active pedal with the same magnetic system, and less expensive.($50 in Europe)

I use it sometimes, it sounds well (as my Hilton or my Goodrich 10K). Only one negative point: You have to pass the output cable (left side) under the pedal

That looks like a good buy. Around $65 on Amazon, and the reviews. If I had one, I'd be tempted to open it up and see if the input jack could be moved.

Exactly my thoughts Scott, but might be better moving the output jack to the right hand side. Would void the warranty obviously but at that price...

I've just bought one from Thomann in Germany, including shipping to the UK the total came to 57 euros, that's about $60.

It might be cheaper and easier to put right angle jacks on your cables.

I tried to do it but it is difficult and risked because the jack is integrated in the electronic module.
I'd just put a right angle jack cable wich return to the right side by passing under the pedal (sufficient space from pedal to the ground).

Sounds like the way forward, thanks for the info.

Well, I bought one of these to check it out and found it to be OK in some ways but TBH it didn't really come close to my Goodrich L120 regards response and uniformity of action.

I found the pedal a bit stiff, a bit difficult to react quickly, although I suppose it would take time to get used to a different tension in the pedal.

It also has a funny "bump/stiffness" in the middle of the pedal movement which is a bit offputting.

Good points - it's relatively low profile so works OK with a PS. You can set the min and max volume, so you can tailor it to a certain extent, though I found this fairly limited in actual use. It's well made and a solid case.

It seemed to me as if it was sucking tone but that may be subject to my old battered ears.

Verdict - OK for a beginner as a cheap alternative to the more expensive pedals. Although probably better saving up and buying a 2nd hand Goodrich or other Pro PS VP.
