That is indeed a beauty, Ron.

With the removable backplate is the instrument constructed like the old Gibsons with a separate top and rim, or is it a one-piece body with both the pickup and control cavities routed out from the rear?

Can you explain the relative virtues of the removable backplate vs. the small cover over the control cavity?

Most of the SpeakEasy guitars are a 2 piece body slab that can either have the full rear cover plate or a small control cavity cover. Either guitar can be made chambered like the old maple Gibsons. I feel that long term this construction is more stable than Gibson and as far as mass and internal volume similar.

I offer the option of many types of wood for the body and neck so if you think Mahogany matches up better with a certain pickup, we can make that. The neck is glued in mortise and tenon style this way you can order a solid Mahogany body with a Maple neck or chambered Alder body with Mahogany neck etc.

The CC style pickup has been popular and having a full rear backplate makes it much easier to install and get at the pickup and electronics. The full rear cover plate is a Gibson idea. The small cavity is a more modern idea and other than the trickiness of getting the pickup mount springs installed, it is just has a smaller footprint on the back of the guitar and only 2 screws to remove to get at the electronics.

Thanks for the positive reviews Jack
