I just got a 1941 Epiphone Electar Century lap steel, and the bar pickup has extremely low output. I'm trying to find a schematic for it.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

This is what the pickup looks like:

John, these are difficult to repair. I ruined the one on my Model M many years ago, although it was a different pickup (bobbin looked the same). The wire is wrapped inside that very brittle and delicate paper-like material.

That would be one I'd consider sending to Dave Stephens, who takes great interest in old lap steel pickups.

Thanks Mike, I'll definitely check him out if it comes to that. The wiring in this thing is not quite original, and I want to make sure that it's not a simple wiring problem first.

Here's an old tag that came with it:

Tom Brantley does a great job rewinding these old pickups as well.

My Epiphone Century had weak output when it first arrived at my door. I learned the pickup was open, meaning a wind or several were broken. I sent it to Lindy Fralin. he called back and said no problem. He did a fantastic and affordable job. my 2 cents.
