I searched the forum and found several discussions regarding scale length and its effect when using a Multibender but all of these people already had a lap steel and wanted to know about string gauges and how to best work with their existing scale. Is there any consensus of opinion on the best scale length to use with a Multibender if someone is having a custom lap steel made?

I've done several multibender builds with scales from 24" to 25". Most were 25", but I don't recall any issues or functional difference on the shorter scale. Do pay attention to your guages though.

I am interested in knowing the Foot Print Dimensions on a bender unit.

Just Trying to figure out if it would fit one of my 6'ers.

Are there more than one brand of unit out there?

Thanks George -io

George...my customer is mailing it to me along with a roller nut. If someone else doesn't answer this, I'll email the dimensions as soon as I receive it.

The scale on this one is 558mm. The fretboard was made to fit the scale. More info in an earlier article on the forum.

George, below is the footprint in mm and inches.
