Derby in Baltimore needs help

Post by Howard Parker »

A gent in Baltimore has reached out to me with a knee issue on a Derby S-10, 3P-4K. One of the RKx. Unclear as to which one.

The challenge is English is not his native language. Written communication is difficult.

Hoping to find someone local to him that could reach out and possibly take a peek.

Anyone?

You can PM or email for details.

Thanks,

Howard

Actually, Billy is in Orange, VA, which is quite a bit south of the Maryland line.

Might be reasonable for the owner to haul it out there, though.

I know Billy & Wanda. Hoping for someone local to the guitar. Might well be quite simple.

Just a note: May be advisable to call Billy Cooper concerning any repair issues, he is currently on the mend from recent surgery and has scaled back his work load.

May be making some progress.

He's lowering E's on the RKL. 4th string won't lower properly. 8th string lowers fine.

Emailed diagram. Trying to go through the usual suspects.

Be sure the split screw for the 4th string at the end of the neck is backed out far enough.

I've sat behind a Derby only once. Forgot they had split screws.

If necessary I'll try to address that on the next pass.

Still looking for a local.

Maybe look up Ray Eicher here on the forum. He's in Baltimore.

I just got Marco's email. A little lube in the right spot did the trick.

Ray, he says he's happy he found a local teacher so...it's good all the way around.

Happy ending!
