Here's a clip of Buddy's solo on my song "Waiting", that was recorded in the late 80's. There are no fades in the Imusic program, so the intro and outro to the clip are a little abrupt: http://picosong.com/6HAq/.
I also play steel. In the clip I play rhythm.
I love Buddy's bottom string "slapping" @ 48 seconds. _________________ Excel 3/4 Pedal With An 8 String Hawaiian Neck, Sierra Tapper (10 string with a raised fretboard to fret with fingers), Single neck Fessenden 3/5

Great Psychedelic Music! To bad that it's so short. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

Wo, sounds like mid jam on the grateful dead tune "The Other One". |

Here is a clip of Buddy's 2nd solo: http://picosong.com/6dq4/
Note the Pat Martino chromatic octave lick.
BTW, the guitar solo previous to this, on the whole version is my childhood pal, Rick Plant. He makes excellent use of a Hipshot B bender.
He now lives in Australia and has played for Allison Moorer, Buddy Miller & Pure Praire League, among others. _________________ Excel 3/4 Pedal With An 8 String Hawaiian Neck, Sierra Tapper (10 string with a raised fretboard to fret with fingers), Single neck Fessenden 3/5

Very cool, Chris. Something unexpected rhythmically, Buddy soloing over it sounding like Little Feat, and then... all too short, but sweet. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Thank you, Charlie. Never thought of a Little Feat sound. I really like their grooves on "The Last Record Album" and "Feats Don't Fail Me Now".
Brett, I hear what your saying about "That's All For The Other One".
At some point in his soloing, Buddy gives a nod to the jazz standard, "Facinatin' Rhythm". _________________ Excel 3/4 Pedal With An 8 String Hawaiian Neck, Sierra Tapper (10 string with a raised fretboard to fret with fingers), Single neck Fessenden 3/5

I'm glad you did, Chris. Not that often do I get to hear a steel piece fully developed as music should be, and this one is good accompaniment
for when I'm writing of an early morning. For my tastes, too much music is presented in short format, and I like things well-developed.
(Hanging with it for a while, I get to hear Buddy doing Plus Nine, exploring harmonizers. That exploratory side of him doesn't get as much play.)
I really like Waiting--the composition and the playing. I dig what you do. Really a beautiful piece, having depth and emotion. |
