While watching Dierks Bentley on The Grand Ole Opry yesterday, I noticed his steel player (Gary Morse?) playing Dobro parts on a steel that appeared to sit on top of the C6 neck of his D-10. A close-up showed it to be a "Mars RGS". I did some searching but was unable to get any info. Was the Dobro sound produced by processing, or does this particular steel produce this kind of tone?
Thanks in advance for any help.

(As an aside, it sure was nice seeing Lloyd Green on the same bill.)

I guess this should have been posted under "No Peddlers". Or maybe "No Dogs Allowed"

I'm suitable enlightened. Thanks Jerry and Howard.

I may take you up on that someday, Howard. For the moment I was mostly curious about the mechanics.

Cheers!

What mechanics?

You mean the cat food can? Yep, it's real. You can also swap it out for a tuna fish can which will give you more of a Josh Graves sound, or a salmon can that has more of a Jerry Douglas high end tone.

I don't care for the anchovies can though. Too much midrange.

I tried a gefilte fish jar but I had a nagging feeling all night. And y'know the plastic bar that comes with the Matchbro? Well I used a Mars bar with the RGS. Still licking the strings clean.
