As Jeff said, many of these ads are "borrowed" from The Forum.

What Stephen Williams said is also indeed true, you can get some cheap knock-off of most guitars here in Beijing for very little money and many are quite playable .
Obviously they can't be compared to several thousand dollar guitars but they are will get the job done. Add your own pick-ups and tuners and you are usually good to go. This is especially true of Strats, Teles and other solid body guitars.

I know my Chinese Squier Classic Vibe 50s Telecasters are quite nice,in tone,feel,fit & finish etc.I love 'em !

This is what stood out the most for me. 38 and 43 are pretty specific numbers, kind of like some of the really stupid answers on Family Feud. Why not 35 to 45, or 40 to 45. Shows just what an idiot the seller is. Plus, it says shipping is much less time right up top.

Jeff, Beijing is a big city with probably 23 million inhabitants. In my nearly 20 years of living here and being familiar with the music scene, I have never seen a Chinese knock-off pedal steel. Nor have I seen any foreign made steels other than mine.
I met American who worked for an airline three years ago. who said he had an Emmons LeGrade but never saw it.

I know whenever I would play mine with the band, Chinese musicians and non-playing but curious Chinese would ask questions about what "that thing was".

Japan has a number of pedal steel guitarists so it is a bit odd the instrument has not caught on here. I have seen a few lap steels in the shops and American, Korean and Japanese 6-string guitars.

The music instrument shops tend to be concentrated on a few roads, Xin Jie Kou and Gu Lou.
My guess is that one might find a pedal steel or two in Hong Kong.
