"Island Blues" is one of the prettiest tunes that Nickie plays.
I was unaware that Gibson made a triple neck "Multiharp" Pedal Steel Guitar. ??

Re: Island Blues
"Multi-Harp" was the name for their triple-neck pedal/console guitar, and it featured 6 pedals that only worked on the middle neck. Their one and two-necked pedal steels were called "Electraharps", but sadly, none of the Gibson pedal steel entries wound up being very popular. The general consensus was that they were expensive, bulky, and rather poorly designed.Roger Shackelton wrote: I was unaware that Gibson made a triple neck "Multiharp" Pedal Steel Guitar. ??

Wow, that was really pretty and I loved the Gretsch Super Chet...I used to have one just like it...Chet wanted Gretsch to build the prettiest guitar ever and this was the design they came up with...the whole video was very well done...loved the tone and touch of the steel guitar....NICE !!

Re: Island Blues
Hello ! I made a drawing to show the possibilities of MULTIHARP
Nickie.
Agreements of 3 necks and those of 6 active pedals on the 2nd. 9 agreements or "empty" in total.
His choice since 1963, to play the harmonies varieties
as modes...
I would send you this drawing to annwer your questions.
Help !

That's an interesting diagram. I think this thread fits fine in the non-pedal section. In one of the videos linked above Nickie never touches the pedals, and in the other video she touches a pedal twice at the end of the song. About 98% of what she's playing is non-pedal... and it sounds really sweet!

To meet last 2 comments: " whith or without pedals?"
Thank you to David and Doug, you ave both right!
Nickie music were composed on his various guitars.
(see video "Souviens-toi). She continued to play on his Multiharp. Then the new enriched themselves harmonies
with the pedals.
Nickie much like what affects what surprises...
Its originality is easier to feel than to define, but I
can assure you that is a romantic ( with or whitout pedals...)
Sincerely

Since this very interesting music is being performed on pedal steel, I'm moving it to Steel Players from Steel Without Pedals.
