Tuffy Steeler Preamp

Post by Robert Bunting »

Anyone know anything about these?
I have only heard of one other steeler owning one.
Plugs in like a BossTone, has a 3 way selector knob.
On the side are holes for adjusting internal trim pots for boost/gain. Similar to a Goodrich Matchbox or Lil Izzy I believe.

I found only one other post in the forum pertaining to the "Tuffy Steeler".

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=90507

Basic info is "The "Tuffy" is some kind of eq device, a rotary knob controls three settings: warm, mellow and bright. It's about as big as a pack of cigarettes, and has clip to go on the leg of your steel."

Also, another google site lists it was made by Tuffy, and is no longer made.

I also found a Tuffy "HotPatch" on ebay's UK site...

Looks like it may be the same type of device, but with a belt clip for guitar.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

It seems there was a leg clip version, and a plug in model like the Jordan BossTone with the male plug built in.
