The only thing I know of is the great Wally Murphy picks up around Apopka, Fl. which is just north of Orlando.Country music left here years ago after they closed the Cheyenne Saloon & Church street station. You can check Wally out on Facebook.

Jack Dougherty works with an Orlando band but not sure of their schedule. Wally Murphy as noted, but he's mostly only working weekends.
I play in a traditional country band on Monday evenings, 6 to 9 PM, Oxford, Fl but its a good hour from Orlando and the attractions. My West Virginia wife also plays in the band. |

I hav a rockabilly/classic country band in Orlando. I play an old Gibson D8 and tele. I used to play pedal steel for Giddy Up Go but had to quit to focus on my own band. They have fiddle player now. Around here it's all Americana, indie and djs and crap. Have to drive way out to see old school stuff. Ocala, Cassia, etc. my band the Oak Hill Drifters will be at Smiling Bison oct 24 th 8:30 to close. It's a restaurant/bar. Good food. We have great upright player and top notch female singer. I sing too. Our lead player is awesome. We do lots of classic country/ swing and rockabilly. Lots of fun. The kids are too hip to like it though. We do better out of town with older crowd. Look us up. Or Giddy up go. They r good too but singer kinda weak. Hope to meet you and talk steel. |

I play every Saturday night & Sunday afternoon in Morriston, which is a little west of Ocala. Total traditional heavy pedal steel driven honky-tonk country, some bluegrass,Western Swing, & rockabilly. Male & female vocals, too, 5 piece band also has 5 string banjo, stand-up bass & fiddle. Just about as country as you'll get anywhere without having a time machine. Little country roadhouse in the middle of nowhere, and they have a "treat you like family" atmosphere. The band heavily promotes the fact that they play ONLY real country, no "new country" or "classic rock" or southern rock. PM me for location. Sunday is guest stars day, so bring your picks & play my LeGrande D-10. You will NOT be disappointed. _________________ A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag. |

Hey Tom and Rich, I'm sorry I didnt get a chance to come out last weekend to hear you both.
Saturday evening our rental car had some problems and I spent a good three hours waiting for Dollar Rental to pick us up and get us a different car.
Anyway it got really late when back on the road, so my wife and I decided better head back to motel.
I was really looking forward to it, maybe next time! |
