I first met Scotty in 1977 when I bought my old blue push pull Emmons from him that I still have. He always treated me like I was somebody important any time I ever saw him. R.I.P Scotty

Deepest condolences to the Scott family. Scotty's vision and love for all things steel guitar will not be forgotten. I went to my first ISGC in 1977. What an experience! Scotty's legacy will live on for as long as folks are playing with picks and a bar.

No one has done more to promote the steel guitar and it's players. Quick story: In 1973 I was 25yrs old), I drove to Scotty's to trade my ShoBud Baldwin for a new MSA. I wrote a check for the difference. While we waited for the check to clear, he took me to a steak house and bought me a steak dinner. I'll never forget his kindness and dedication to his steel players. He's surrounded by and playing with the great ones now.

Sorry to hear about the loss of Scotty. When I last talked with him earlier this year, he was not feeling well, but I did not know the end was this near.

I have been to his store, and purchased at least one Fender steel from him. His steel guitar instruction books and tabs are excellent, in my opinion. Steel guitar has lost another great supporter. My condolences to his wife and family.

What sad, sad news this morning when I read the Forum. Deepest condolences are extended to Mary, Michael, Sandra, and the rest of the family at this very difficult time. Scotty will be missed because of the very close, personal friendship that we developed during the many years he performed at our Iowa show. And up until the very end, he continued to be the world's ambassador for steel guitar. Rest in peace Scotty.

I am so grateful for having the opportunity on several occasions to be with Scotty at the Toledo steel guitar hall of fame shows put on by the late Jess Hurt between 2000 and 2007. I heard him play that frying pan with the ceramic slide and discovered that one didn't need pedals to be a master. Rest in peace Scotty, you will be greatly missed by the steel guitar community.

Sorry to hear we lost Him

Post by Ernie Pollock »

I am so happy that I had a chance to meet & talk with Scotty when he was in Jessup Md for a show, I remember telling him I sold steel guitars & his reply was I must be as nutty as he was. He sure was important in ways he would never have known. He will be missed by all of us.
