Steel peddlers .... How many of you are bicycle riders
Avid or causal, road, mountain, vintage.... What do you ride and how often? Do you have a stable of bikes or keep it to one or two?
I'm fairly new to Bikes, I ride a 2015 Trek Marlin 6 mainly, 30 to 50 miles a week.
My goal is to never use my truck within the boarders of my town.
And a 1975 Schwinn varsity for fun ...

I ride a bit. We have what they call "Rails to Trails" around here, where they convert the old rail roads into bike paths. When I'm feeling adventurous I'll go out on the snowmobile trails. Fun stuff. I'm pretty casual about it. A few years ago I did a 20 mile ride on some trails.

used to put up to a couple hundred miles a week on the poor man's road bike. (in my 30s and 40s....i'm 67 now) probably why my heart still works.
still try to put a few miles on it some mornings,
sacramento has the great 'american river bike trail'.

Here is essentially what I ride. A vintage black Raleigh three speed. I guess it goes along with playing vintage pedal steels. The bike is rodded, if you notice, no cables for those brakes. The brakes don't exactly stop the bike, they just slow it down

I ride a Rans Stratus long wheelbase recumbent. I put 250 - 300 miles a week on it when I lived in Michigan. only putting 25 - 50 miles a week on it here in Texas. Longest ride was from middle of Ohio to Mackinaw bridge - 550 miles in 7 days, hauling a BOB trailer with camping gear. I am looking into doing the Adventure Cycle southern tier bike trail - California to Florida before I turn 75 (69 now).

Here's my beloved Serotta titanium road bike, which I sadly don't ride as often as I used to, new to my area and haven't found any local pals to ride with, and it's rather windy on our prairie.

Up until 3 years ago, I rode 20-25 miles a day. Here in Northfield Ohio, I am close to a great trail in the Cuyahoga Valley Park. But a couple years ago I started taking BP meds, and they messed with my balance. Not interested in a fall at 69 years old. I really, really miss it though!
Dr. Z Surgical Steel amp, amazing!

I live in a small drinkin town at the beach and I ride my bike to and from the bar everyday cheaper than drivin a van home drunk ..
But I've always used my bike for exersize when it comes to being a front man or a solo act and needing to keep my wind up for singing ..
Dont take long to get ready to do a singing gig
2/3 days of exersize riding and Im good to sing all night ...

Oh yeah ! I ride both road and mountain trail, and I commute to work on a single speed/fixed gear. Have been doing so for years. As a matter of fact shortly after I bought my first pedal steel I broke my right hip mountain biking. Couldnt work for a few months so I spent hours and hours behind my Stage One, learning to play.
