I've come across this Rickenbacker locally. Though I've searched for some info, I've come up short. Anyone know what model this is and when this model was made? Or has anyone played this model?

Thanks.

It's a J-6. I believe it was one of the last steels they built from sheet metal in the 1950s.

There was an interesting discussion of this particular model a few years back. Although the Topic title was "Is This a Rickenbacker SW", the consensus seemed to be that it was in fact a J-6.

The head stock logo plate is the same as one on a '50 bakelite I had some years ago...

Wonder how that one sounds ?
