What causes a band to split up?

Booze
Guys who drink too much tend to be unpleasant to work with.

and women.
Every band I've worked with that had an attractive woman in it fell apart over her.

On the other hand I have had great success playing with guys that I don't particularly like. Friends don't necessarily make a good band, musicians do.

I think it is rare to find 4 or 5 people all on the same page for an extended period of time.....even just a couple of years.

I sit in with a band that has been together 18 years, there are definitely no egos in it...
