| AL will be missed deeply but never forgotten he taught a lot of us how to be a gentlemen and musican I loved everytime I got to work with him he played from his heart for those of you who did not know him or get to hear him play you missed a lot thanks to Uncle Leo Eiffert Jr. these names will be kept alive |

I guess the LP below must be his earliest solo recordings--before he hooked up with Gibson guitars and Conway. It's from the mid to late 1950s on a Canadian label.

Skip, Al Bruno used many Guitars on Recording sessions we did besides his love " Ole Red Gibson " with them palm pedals. Man,I truly love you guys and respect your Talent God Has given. Al RIP & have fun in Heaven with all our other brothers & Sisters Musicians we miss. (Al,Give the x Miss B our love too!)  |

One night at the PLAZA in Vegas , Al handed me his Gibson to play .
Those palm pedals terrorized me .
I used to meet up with him whenever I was in Vegas , mostly in December during the WNFR. Did this for years .
I'll miss our visits , but thrilled to have the memories of such a great person & friend !

This is devastating news to me! Al and I have been friends for many years and have stayed in each others homes on occasion... I can't believe I just now logged onto the computer and saw this post almost a week after he'd passed. Al was one of the sweetest guys you'd ever want to know. We all stole licks from him back in the old LA days but one of the best lessons he ever gave me was how to treat other people. It didn't matter what level of picker you were, he treated you as an equal. If you'd be jammin' on stage with him he'd never try to show anyone up, he'd just play things while you were soloing that would enhance what your were doing. Kay and I stayed with Al and Sue Ellen at their home in Las Vegas a few times on our way from Va. to Calif. or back and they were always very hospitable. I got to play in Las Vegas during one trip there when Al took us to a club he played every Wednesday night and I had the honor of sitting in on steel all night with the band..
I remember in Nov. of '05 Al and Sue had been in Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving and they came by the house the next day and stayed with Kay and I for a few days... The picture I'm posting was taken at a jam in a converted barn in Surrey, Va. When we set up there were about 4 or 5 other guitar players set up on the large stage and the guy running the thing set Al and I right up front. I don't think those dudes had ever heard a picker of his level before because once we started the jam they started peeling off the stage one by one and within an hour Al was the only guitarist left on stage. The others were sitting right down from, some on the floor, just looking up at him in amazement.... RIP Bruno, there'll never be another like you in this lifetime...........JH in Va.

Jerry, I remember Al coming down to San Diego to visit one time and I was working so I called the Band Leader I was working with and ask if they would mind him sitting in.
Al took it very carefully, so as not to infringe on the guitar players comfort level, but later in the night: The regular guitar player ask Al if he knew OBS, which he played on Harmonica, and thought he was really getting with it. Finally, when he stopped to take a breath, Al came in and went to work on it. The look on the regular guitar players face was something to see.
I just chuckled to myself when he ask if Al knew it. Another night that I got to enjoy his talent and friendship....
