Apples or oranges, which fruit is better?
In all seriousness, there are a lot of posts on this subject. You can't go wrong with either, they are both great. I believe the Half and Half and the Quilter both utilize a class D power amplifier topology but the former has a tube pre-amp. _________________ My site |

I have not played a Milkman but I have had a Steelaire for about 3 months (need to change my profile) and I love:
the very musical EQ
the sweet, very adjustable reverb (I have virtually stopped using delay)
the XLR out - running my signal to the PA and using my amp as monitor works great
the weight - my amp is now my lightest piece of gear! _________________ Show Pro SD10 guitars

I've had my Quilter for about 1 1/2 yr's now and I'm very happy with it.

Which model?
My half and half uses a class D power amp, but I have 3 more models for pedal steel that are all tube and quite different.
I'd search forum posts. A lot of comparison posts have been made and you should ask someone who has tried both. I'm obviously biased so not me _________________ Milkmansound.com |

I've owned them both (Milkman Half & Half) and they two different animals. The Milkman is super warm and fat, and has the smoothest top end I've ever heard, while still retained bell like chime.. The Quilter (Steelaire combo) has way more flexibility in the midrange eq. Milkman reminds me of a Webb with tube like qualities, Quilter reminds me of a Peavey, but much warmer. Both had more than enough bottom than I'd ever need. Both are outstanding in there own right. Milkman is smaller and lighter, and Tim's work is the cleanest I've ever seen.
Can't go wrong with either. |
